WHY E-DRIVE logo

E-DRIVE saves money and improves your work:Traditional generators can be a pain point, with operating and maintenance costs that sneak up on you, unplanned downtime, and frequent refueling. E-DRIVE frees you to do your job by simplifying the operation of your trailer while providing a silent and comfortable work environment. No maintenance, no noise, no fumes, no fuss. How much money can you save?

E-DRIVE is 4 main elements designed to work in harmony as a TURNKEY energy system!

E-DRIVE saves money and improves your work:

  • Comfort: We use quiet, variable-speed air-conditioners and heat pumps. You’ll notice the difference because there is no generator noise or vibration. Your workplace stays an even temperature with no impact from cycling A/C compressors. A comfortable workplace is a productive workplace.
  • Convenience: Absolutely no scheduled maintenance on your power system is required. Fuel stops are a distant memory. Unplanned generator repairs are someone else’s world. In many climates during much of the year, you may not even have to plug the trailer in for charging.
  • MONEY: Save lots of it. Less operating cost = better profit margins. If grid charging is even required, your electrical cost can be as low as 50 cents/day. In most situations, your E-DRIVE system will pay for itself in under a year, and your savings will pay for the whole trailer over a 10 year period. Contact us for a transparent & custom cost of ownership comparison for your situation.
  • Example calculation below for 160 hours/month, base E-DRIVE system cost vs. Onan QG 4000 onboard generator:

CORE PRO leads the industry in off-grid electrical systems. There are a lot of pieces of the puzzle that need to fit together to make the system function and the trailer perform at a superior level.  Our engineering expertise has combined the right components and architected the optimal structure for your trailer to minimize power demands allowing for longer run times, quicker recharges, and maximized comfort.

This is no easy feat and takes years to develop.  Do not be fooled by competitors who make similar claims for less efficient trailers and cheaper components.  No product performs like a CORE PRO, period!

Insulated Structure

Our walls are insulation. And the floors, roof and joints. Structural insulated panels are lighter, stronger, and just plain better than other construction methods. Our wall, floor, and roof panels are all slightly different and optimized for the application to retain heat (or keep it outside). This must be the starting point of an efficient off-grid system.

Lithium Battery

The battery pack in your coach is your onboard fuel tank. Battery capacity is measured in kilowatt-hour (kWh) – how much fuel you have in the tank. A higher number means more capacity, more run-time, and less battery cycling (less wear).

Solar Panels

Solar panels are your gas pump.  Panels turn sunlight into electric power which is used to operate your RV, with excess being fed into your batteries. Solar panel potential power is measured in watts (W). If the panels cannot create enough power to keep up with your usage, your batteries will pick up the slack.

Inverter

An inverter is a device that converts DC power to AC power for use in appliances and HVAC. In a CORE RV, this means converting 48V DC to 120V AC to run appliances such as your air conditioner, heat pump, microwave, or coffee maker. The inverter output is measured in kilowatts (kW).  A higher number means more appliances can be running at the same time.

FAQs

  • Up to 3x usable runtime vs. lead acid batteries at 1/2 the weight
  • Lithium batteries cost about 40% as much as lead acid in total delivered energy over the lifetime.
  • Generators are loud, require maintenance, consume fuel, etc. and may not be allowed everywhere.

The batteries in the CORE are specifically selected to work in the real world. They are internally heated to allow charging in cold temperatures.

It depends on the temperature, sun, etc. The superior insulation in the CORE PRO enables the 10kW-hr system to run A/C and lighting for your whole workday in nearly every case, often multiple workdays.

We can easily upgrade the base E-Drive system with up to 25kWh, accommodating a work week for many users.

We equip most CORE PROs with a heat pump, which is 3-5x as efficient as resistance heaters. The CORE PRO still comes with resistance heat for temperatures below 23°F. In extreme environments, we can install a fuel-fired heater with very little electrical energy.

Solar panels extend your range.

On clear days with high sun the solar panels may entirely balance your load during peak times of the day.

Solar panels will charge the E-Drive system when the trailer is parked outside.

  • On a 30A/120VAC outlet, the 10dW-hr battery will take 4-5 hours to charge
  • On a 15A/120VAC outlet, the 10kW-hr battery will take 8-10 hours
  • We can install a 50A plug for even faster charging if your shore infrastructure can provide it
  • The E-Drive storage bank uses high-quality LiFePO4 batteries. This is a stable and safe chemistry different from most EVs and small electronics
  • The batteries have protection features to prevent over-temperature operation
  • The batteries are UL 1973 listed for safe use in vehicle applications
  • LiFePO4 batteries do not emit any corrosive or combustible vapors. Lead-acid batteries in failure can emit large amounts of both
  • There is no gasoline being handled or stored an an E-Drive trailer

NONE. For long-term storage, it is recommended to leave at 50% state of charge and switch the batteries off.

No. The E-Drive system operates at DC voltage levels considered “low-voltage.” The same best practices apply as you would take with any other low-voltage DC system.

  • The E-Drive batteries are designed for a minimum of 6,000 cycles (versus~200-400 for lead-acid)
  • At 6,000 cycles the battery will have 80% or more of the original storage capacity.
  • 6,000 cycles = 24 years of work days, if you used the entire storage every day.
  • For maximum performance, avoid using batteries below 10% state-of-charge
